Field Observations

The field observation program introduces students to live animal observation
and field research. Students learn to develop an ethogram, do background research,
and actual field observation of Lion Country Safari's primates.

This workshop has both pre- and post-visit activities that will enhance your students'
understanding of animal behavior and the importance of recording these behaviors.
Once at Lion Country Safari, your group will meet up with education staff members
who will accompany your group on the preserve tour and distribute observation
packs (which include data collection sheets for each student, binoculars for student
pairs to share, and a thermometer and stop watch for the group to share).
Students will be able to keep the observation sheets; however, the other components
remain the property of Lion Country Safari.
