BOY SCOUT: Communication Badge

Note: Lion Country Safari's badge workshop will help your Scout group
prepare for earning a badge. The following list will help you to understand
what Lion Country Safari covers, and what the Scout and/or group will need
to do to complete the badge requirements. All badge workshops must be
arranged in advance.

At Lion Country Safari
(during your badge workshop)		 Scouts need to do on their own
(or as a Den activity)

1. d) List as many ways as you can think of to communicate
with others; discuss when each method would be appropriate/not.
2. b) Build a sales plan and try to persuade the counselor to
use your product/service.
4. Interview someone you know; prepare and deliver an
introduction.
9. Discuss a career in the field of communications. Discuss
the qualifications and preparations needed for it
(For example: Education Assistant at LCS).

 

3. Write a 5-minute speech; give it at a group meeting.
5. Attend a town or community meeting where varying points
of view are given. Make a report from your notes. Tell group
what you heard.
6. Develop a plan to teach a skill or inform someone; prepare
teaching aids; carry out the plan. Evaluate with your counselor.
7. Do one of the following :
---a) Write to an editor of a newspaper or magazine.
---b) Create a web page.
---c) Use a desktop publishing program to make a newsletter, ---etc.
8. Plan a troop court of honor or campfire program; serve as M.C.
