JUNIOR GIRL SCOUT: Plants & Animals

Note: Lion Country Safari's badge workshop will help your Scout group
prepare for earning a badge. The following list will help you to understand
what Lion Country Safari covers, and what the Scout and/or group will need
to do to complete the badge requirements. All badge workshops must be
arranged in advance.

Scouts need to do on their own
(or as a Den activity)
2. Garden gifts
- Grow your own plants from one of these: seed, root, leaf,
stem.
3. Creature teacher
- Learn about positive and negative reinforcement in animal
training, and try your hand at clicker training with a game.
4. Wild relatives
- Note how wild animals differ from domestic ones:
wolf/dog; lion/house cat.
7. Seed Art
- Create a piece of art using at least 2 kinds of seeds.
9. What a pest!
- Learn about 1 plant and 1 animal that are pests. Find out
why they are harmful and what is being done to control them.
10. Go on safari
- Learn about animal adaptations from Lion Country Safari's
education staff at the Animal Theatre.

1. Plants here, there, & everywhere
- Find as many plant products as possible at the super
market.
5. Creature clusters
- Create animal groupings by cutting out 15-25 pictures
and group them in at least 2 ways.
6. Veggie voyagers
- Pick a fruit and a vegetable grown in another country
and prepare a dish using each.
8. Living sculpture
- Create a topiary.
