SENIOR/CADETTE GIRL SCOUT: All About Birds

Note: Lion Country Safari's badge workshop will help your Scout group
prepare for earning a badge. The following list will help you to understand
what Lion Country Safari covers, and what the Scout and/or group will need
to do to complete the badge requirements. All badge workshops must be
arranged in advance.

Required for badge: 2 Skill builders, 1 Technology, 1 Service Project, 1 Career exploration,
2 from any category that you choose
At Lion Country Safari
(during your badge workshop)		 Scouts need to do on their own

Skill Builders
2. Learn to identify several bird species by size, shape,
color, flight patterns, behavior.
5. Make a bird feeder
6. Sketch a bird at Lion Country Safari.

Technology
1. Use binoculars to observe birds.

Service Projects
5. Make bird enrichments for Lion Country Safari's
parrots.

Career Exploration
2. Learn about the education and experience needed to
become a veterinarian.
4. Learn about training needed, the hiring process, and
tasks of being a bird keeper at a zoo.

Skill Builders
5. Set up the feeder at your home and record the various
birds that use it.

Technology
1. Visit a store that sells binoculars to compare features of
various models.

Career Exploration
2. Visit a veterinarian.
4. Job shadow an ornithologist, naturalist, or wildlife biologist
for several hours
