WEBELOS SCOUT: Forester Activity Badge

Note: Lion Country Safari's badge workshop will help your Scout group
prepare for earning a badge. The following list will help you to understand
what Lion Country Safari covers, and what the Scout and/or group will need
to do to complete the badge requirements. All badge workshops must be
arranged in advance.

Scouts need to do on their own
(or as a Den activity)
1. On a map of the US, show different types of forests.
Name some trees in these forests. Give uses for the wood.
2. Label the different layers of a rainforest.
3. Identify 6 trees common to our area. Tell how they are
used by wildlife and humans.
6. Make a oster showing how a tree's growth rings tell its
life history
9. Describe the harm wildfires can cause. Tell how you can
help prevent wildfire.

4. Identify 6 forest plants other than trees that are useful to
wildlife and tell which animals use them and why.
5. Draw a picture showing how water, minerals, and sunlight
help a tree grow.
7. Collect 3 kinds of wood used to build houses.
8. Plant 20 forest seedlings.
10. Draw your own urban forest plan.
