Christmas with the Chimps

An annual tradition since the 1980s, Christmas with the Chimps has been enriching the lives of our chimpanzees, ChimpanZoo observers, staff members, and visitors for over 20 years. Santa makes his way toward the chimp islands by boat with our wildlife director and tosses wrapped presents to the islands. It is fun to watch the chimps as they eagerly await Santa's arrival, and as they quickly open their gifts.

Lion Country Safari's
Staff Art Show
to celebrate Earth Day

Monday - Friday, April 7-11 & 14-18, 2008 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
& Saturday & Sunday, April 19 & 20 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
at Lion Country Safari's event pavilion

Lion Country Safari's Chapter of American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) is sponsoring an all-employee art show to benefit conservation organizations. Lion Country Safari employees have donated original art (paintings, drawings, sculpture, photographs) with animal or environmental themes which will be displayed in our pavilion during the times and dates shown above. Staff and visitors have the opportunity to vote for their favorites by donating (1 cent = 1 vote) and/or by purchasing raffle tickets ($2 each or 3 for $5). At the end of the art show, each piece will be raffled off to the lucky winners. In addition, the artist who receives the most votes will chose which animal or environmental charity or charities will receive all of the funds donated during this event.

It's a Conservation Celebration at Lion Country Safari's
"PARTY FOR THE PLANET"
April 19 and 20, 2008 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Is your family wildlife friendly? Head to Lion Country Safari on April 19 & 20, 2008 and celebrate the wonders of our planet. Learn how simple conservation efforts can make a remarkable difference to wildlife in your own backyard and beyond. At the 'Party for the Planet,' we'll showcase our animals and their habitats and educate folks about how actions we take in our own neighborhoods affect the environment where these animals make their homes. We will also continue our efforts to raise awareness about the plight of amphibians in our continuing Year of the Frog campaign.

The "Party for the Planet" will include fun, family events that encourage discovery at Lion Country Safari and beyond! There will be crafts to make and take home as well as the staff art show, where you can vote for your favorite art work, or maybe even win it.

Lion Country Safari's "Party for the Planet" is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquarium's "Conservation Made Simple" public education campaign that encourages families to learn about and conserve the planet. "Conservation Made Simple" aims to help people understand that from the air we breathe to the food we eat, people and animals all depend on the Earth for survival.

Free or reduced admission is not valid for any groups,
reserved birthdays or any other reservations made
through Lion Country Safari’s groups department.
