This week, we made some paper-mache antelope (Group 8 made a Gemsbok and Groups 2 & 3 made a blackbuck) as enrichments for the lions. On Friday, the lion keepers placed these antelope, along with the paper-mache lion we made for the Zebra week 1, in the lion section. As the lions were released that morning, we watched the lionesses bound into the area, stalk, and knock down the antelope. Then the male lion, Hiro, investigated the paper-mache male lion. Once he started to tear into the fake lion, some of the lionesses joined him. We also had the opportunity to watch it all again on the evening news on Channels 5 & 25, plus read about it in the local newspapers the next day
