Lion
We watched the lions being released. It was very exciting to watch them run out into the exercise yard, and then into the Gorongosa Reserve! The highlight of the week was watching them tear up the animals we had made as enrichment for them. We gave the lions a paper-mache spider, a paper-mache zebra, a paper-mache giraffe, an an animal made of firehose.

Pelican Feeding
Pelican
Lion Country Safari is a safe haven for brown pelicans that have been injured in the wild (most by fishing line) and can't fend for themselves. We learned all about these interesting birds, and even got to feed them!

Alligator
Alligator
We met the Education staff at the Animal Theatre in the morning to learn all about the baby alligator, Ike. Some of us even had our photo taken with the little guy! And then, we
were able to feed the big ones during the 3:00 p.m. Alligator Chit-Chat.

Petting Zoo
Petting Zoo Keeper
One of the petting zoo keepers told us all about their job, and the type of education required for it. We then helped to clean the goats' night quarters and to feed some of the petting zoo animals. Some of us had our pictures taken with one of the petting zoo animals.

Horticulture Horticulture

Horticulture
Will from landscaping, who is a master gardener and has lived all over the world, took us on a hike to point out the variety of plants and how they are used in many different cultures. We also grew seeds, drew plants, and learned about the many instruments made from plants.
