Chimp
Joe from Education led us in making
enrichments for our chimps. Then, we met the primate keepers at the chimp house and gave them our enrichments to give to the chimps. They told us all about these primates, and we were able to observe them on the island and at the house. They also gave each of us a bamboo stick and some paint, and we learned to paint like chimps! We made a special chimp craft and played a chimp game, too. |
|
Amazon Parrot
We met an education staff member, who told us all about Twizzler (our blue-fronted Amazon) and Eddy (yellow-headed Amazon). We had our photo taken with Twizzler. At craft time, we made parrots, and we played a parrot game, too. |
|
Iguana
We met an education staff member at the Iguana moat, where we learned all about the 2 kinds of iguanas at Lion Country Safari (green and rhinoceros). At craft time, we made an iguana craft, and we also played an iguana-themed game. |

Commissary Keeper
We met a wildlife staff member at the commissary, which is where the animal diets are prepared. In a fun game, we helped to prepare the birds' diets. We also helped to clean the enclosures for the Education animals. At craft time, we made a special craft dealing with animal diets. |

Butterfly
We took a walk, looking for butterflies. We also learned about the different stages of metamorphosis and were able to watch our little caterpillars make their own chrysalises and then emerge as butterflies. We made a butterfly craft and played a game with the butterfly theme, too. |
