Deer
For mammal day, all the campers got to meet our fallow deer in the first section of the preserve. A wildlife keeper told us about these beautiful animals and we were even able to hand feed them. During craft time we made a deer Chemed craft and played a fun game. |

Amazon Parrot
For Bird Day, we made enrichments for the parrots under the supervision of an education staff member. Then, we met another education staff member at the Animal Theater and learned all about the Amazon parrots. We met Eddie and Twizzler, and some of us even had our photos taken with these beautiful birds. Later, we met an education staff member to candle eggs and to hold the baby chicks. We also played a game and made a parrot craft. |

Iguana
This week's Reptile is the Iguana. We learned about the two species of iguanas at Lion Country Safari (green iguana and rhinoceros iguana), and we were able to hold the plastic iguana (which looks real) shown in this photo. We looked all around the iguana moat to count how many iguanas are in there. Later, we played a fun game and we made a cool iguana craft, too. |
|
Commissary Keeper
We learned that the Commissary Keeper prepares the diets for the animals in Safari World and the Las Pampas section of the Preserve. And we helped to clean the education animal exhibits at the Commissary. Some of us had our photos taken with one of these animals. We also played a game and made a craft to remember our special keeper day. |
|
Butterfly
We learned all about the life cycle of butterflies through an interactive story. Then we played a butterfly identity game before going on a walk through the Butterfly area of Safari World in search of these amazing insects. We also made a special butterfly craft to take home. |
