Wild Wednesday Lecture Series: Fall 2009 Lion Country Safari invites adults in our community to join us for WILD WEDNESDAY lecture series in Fall 2009. Each Wednesday morning from September 9 - November 18, 2009, various zoo professionals will share their expertise from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. in our event pavilion. Topics will include: Lion Country Safari's hurricane preparations (by Wildlife Director Terry Wolf), Keeping Wild Animals Healthy (by Dr. Elizabeth Hammond), Zoo Exhibit Design (by Bob Dalton), Horticulture Talk & Walk (by Master Gardener Will Wagenaar), ChimpanZoo, Lion Country Safari's conservation initiatives, Halloween enrichments for the animals, and MORE! A detailed schedule will be made available at a future date. Admission to each of the lectures is FREE with your paid admission to Lion Country Safari. If you are an Annual Pass holder, you can attend all 11 lectures for no extra charge! If you do not have the Annual Pass, now would be a good time to purchase one! Government/Hotel Employee Appreciation: Fall 2009 Halloween Safari Style: October 31, 2009 Guests are invited to Lion Country Safari on October 31, 2009, to watch the animals "trick or treat". Lion Country Safari's lions, elephants and chimps will enjoy Halloween pumpkins and goodie bags throughout Halloween and the weekend. Enrichments/treats are an important part of the animals' daily lives at Lion Country Safari. They help to elicit the animals' natural behaviors. Christmas with the Chimps: December 2009 An annual tradition since the 1980s, Christmas with the Chimps has been enriching the lives of our chimpanzees, ChimpanZoo observers, staff members, and visitors for over 20 years. Santa makes his way toward the chimp islands by boat with our wildlife director and tosses wrapped presents to the islands. It is fun to watch the chimps as they eagerly await Santa's arrival, and as they quickly open their gifts.
