Status: Common.Range: West and Central Africa, from Senegal to Uganda.Habitat: Dry brushland, cleared forest, open grassland.Food: Primarily rodents.Reproduction: A female will take over a mammal burrow and coil around her clutch of up to 10 eggs to incubate them for about 56 days. Hatchlings are 14-17 inches (36-43 cm) long.Facts: Its name reflects its ability to curl up into a tight ball to protect itself. Pythons kill their prey by constriction. Since their teeth are not adapted for chewing, they must swallow their prey whole.
