Celebrate World Giraffe Day at Lion Country Safari!

Lion Country Safari Celebrating World Giraffe Day

West Palm Beach, FL – Lion Country Safari, home to one of the largest herds of giraffe in the country, is celebrating World Giraffe Day on June 20th, 2021, from 12:00PM to 3:00PM. This year’s event will feature special keeper chats, crafts, educational displays and a raffle, the proceeds of which will be donated to giraffe conservation. In addition to offering fun and educational activities in Safari World, the park is also offering a “Show Your Spots” promotion in which the first 50 guests admitted to the park that wear giraffe-themed clothing will receive a complimentary animal feeding voucher to feed the giraffe.

World Giraffe Day was initiated by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) and is traditionally celebrated on June 21st, the longest day of the year in honor of the tallest land animal on the planet. It is a worldwide event celebrating giraffe and raising awareness of the threats giraffe face in the wild. Lion Country Safari is a proud supporter of giraffe conservation and GCF.

As a single species, giraffes are listed as “Vulnerable,” on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species and two of the subspecies (West African giraffe and Rothschild’s giraffe) are now listed as “Endangered.” Lion Country Safari is dedicated to the conservation of a number of rare or endangered species, including giraffe, through in situ conservation programs and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Species Survival Plan.

Lion Country Safari is Florida’s largest drive-through safari and is home to over 1,000 animals, including some of the world’s most iconic species roaming wide open natural habitats in large herds. Lion Country Safari continuously strives to be a leader in animal care, conservation, and education to inspire meaningful connections.
